The Robinson Citizens Police Academy will begin their second program for 2018 on September 27th. To apply, download the application by clicking here and return it to Officer Chris Lopez and/or Lt. O'Connor in person or via mail at 111 W. Lyndale, Robinson, TX 76706 or by emailing Officer Lopez and/or Lt. O'Connor. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on September 26th.
The Robinson Citizens Police Academy is an example of the Robinson Police Departments commitment to be involved with the community. The program provides insight into the mission, goals, objectives, and operations of the Police Department. It is designed for residents of the City of Robinson. Participants and law enforcement are encouraged to share their ideas and experiences during the program to build, enhance, and develop their partnerships.
The objective of this program is to foster better communication between citizens and police through education. The Academy will create a nucleus of well-informed citizens who possess greater insight into police practices and services. Graduates of the Academy can share their knowledge and experiences within the community as the opportunity arises.
The RCPA is a unique learning experience designed to give citizens a better understanding of the mission and operations of their police department. The 8-week course consists of meeting each Thursday for two hours.
Week 1: History, Background, and Class Requirements Week 2: Law and Crime Prevention and Community Programs Week 3: Patrol Division Week 4: Animal Control, K-9, and Narcotics Week 5: Criminal Investigation Division Week 6: Force on force and firearms Week 7: Defense Tactics and Use of Force Week 8: Graduation Ceremony Classes are comprehensive covering different areas of police work weekly. Police Officers, their supervisors, and civilian professionals will present the classes. Ride alongs are not required but preferred.
