East Rocket RoadStreet crews are sweeping off the excess rock today (Wednesday, August 14th) after letting the street cure. Sweeping revealed a few spots where a nozzle on the emulsion distributor may have clogged leaving a few bald spots. Those will be covered by hand before beginning the fog seal application tomorrow morning, Thursday, August 15th, starting at 8 a.m. They will do one lane at a time. This will keep the road open for traffic while they allow time for the fog seal to dry. They will also continue cleaning the shoulders and ditches and tying driveways and intersections into next week. Once the fog seal and clean up are complete a street crew will replace any damaged or faded signs and add additional signage to curves to improve safety for the road. All work should be completed by Friday, August 30th.
Tate AvenueTexas Materials will begin chip sealing Tate Avenue on Thursday, August 15th and finish up Tate Avenue with fog seal on Friday, August 16th and at some point, they will asphalt patch the bore pitch. They are looking to have Tate Avenue open for thru traffic on Saturday, August 16th. They will continue into next week cleaning up ditches, intersections, etc.
*The above schedules are all tentative on weather and any other circumstances that may cause a delay in the processes.
**A fog seal is a light application of a diluted slow-setting asphalt emulsion to the surface of an aged (oxidized) pavement surface.
