Driver’s Safety Course

If you wish to take a driving safety course you may apply in person or by mail to the Court by your appearance date. If you request the driving safety course by letter, the letter must reach the Court office on or before your initial Court appearance date. A signed plea of no contest or guilty must be included with your request.

The following items are also required:

  • Driver's Safety Course request form (PDF)
  • Present proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance)
  • Copy of Valid Texas Driver's License
  • $144 fee or $169 if in a school zone (money order payable to Robinson Municipal Court)

You will be required to attend a Texas Certified Driving Safety Course (additional cost) You may obtain a list of providers from the Court. A copy of the certificate of completion must be provided to the Court within 90 days of your request as well as a copy of your driving record from DPS. (3A CERTIFIED version) texas.gov

Please note: You are not eligible to take the course if:

  1. You have taken the course within the last 12 months;
  2. You are currently taking the course for another violation;
  3. If you have a CDL; and
    • Have committed one of the following offenses:
    • Failure to give information at Accident Scene;
    • Leaving the Scene of an Accident;
    • Passing a School Bus;
    • If the offense occurred in a construction or maintenance work zone with workers present;
    • Speeding 25 mph or more over the posted speed limit;
    • Speeding 95 mph or more
